Throwing a holiday gathering for friends, employees or clients this year? Make sure to treat your guests with a delicious spiked eggnog! This classic holiday cocktail is easy to prepare and doubles as a dessert. Holiday parties are all about enjoying traditional food and drink and eggnog is the perfect party drink to remind us all what the season is really all about…
What you need: (serves 25 people)
1 gallon Eggnog (homemade or Eberhard’s brand)
1 bottle (750 ml) Cognac (use high proof)
16 oz. Dark Jamaican Rum
Ground Nutmeg, Cardamom or Cinnamon
Whip Cream (optional topping)
Ingredients for homemade eggnog:
6 large eggs
1 cup sugar
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
Directions: Separate the yolks in one bowl and the whites in another. Combine the yolks and the sugar in a medium mixing bowl, whisk by hand, or with a mixer, until it’s smooth and creamy and has lightened to a lemony yellow color. Pour the milk and cream into the bowl with the egg mixture and whisk until combined. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Just before serving, whisk the reserved egg whites in a stand or hand mixer at high speed until the whites form stiff peaks, fold them into your eggnog. Remember – the more alcohol you add to your eggnog, the longer it will keep. Non-alcoholic eggnog should be consumed in one day.
If a bartender is serving your eggnog, they can add whip cream and a sprinkle of spice for that extra special touch. Drink and enjoy!
