Ahhh, the Fourth of July (a day deserving of a couple of fab new drink recipes, am I right?). As a kid growing up in the Midwest, this was a day I looked forward to almost more than Christmas. My family would gather at the lake for a day of swimming, BBQ, water fights, boat rides, and ungodly amounts of Coca-Cola Classic. The adults would drink Bud Light and gin and tonics and not really pay attention to how sunburned us kids were getting as we frolicked on the beach. The fireworks were a magical spectacle that we’d hopefully be awake to see. Those were the days.
At Twist, we wanted to create some cocktails that would embody our excitement for this over-the-top American holiday. Check out these two winners and have fun celebrating the red, white and blue!
- lime slices
- 5 oz white rum
- .75 oz simple syrup
- 1 oz lime juice
In a tall glass, muddle a couple slices of lime and mint. Then, add a strawberry or two and 4-6 blueberries and muddle lightly. Add ice, rum, simple syrup and lime juice and stir. Top with club soda and garnish with strawberries. Yum.
- grilled pineapple slices
- 2 oz tequila
- 1 oz orange liqueur
- 3 oz sour mix
In a shaker, muddle a thin slice of grilled pineapple, 1-2 slices of jalapenos and a couple chunks of cucumber. Then add ice, tequila, orange liqueur and sour mix. Shake and strain into a glass with ice. Garnish with jalapeno, pineapple and lime slices. BOOM!
Enjoy these drink recipes with your favorite peeps and your favorite July 4th BBQ! Cheers!
